Becoming a Governor

Almost anyone over 18 years of age can become a governor. There are no particular qualifications or requirements, other than a willingness to give time to the role and a capacity for working with other people.

The most important qualities for being a governor are enthusiasm, commitment and an interest in providing the best education possible for our children. You don’t need teaching experience, but it is useful to bring skills from other areas of your life. Knowledge of HR, health &safety, marketing, business and change management or accountancy for example, can also be very useful for the governing body to be effective.

The expectations on each governor are to attend 6 meetings held after school, complete 2 visits into school during school hours and attend 1 training session each academic year. All governors will need to have completed a DBS check and agree to abide by our code of conduct.

You don’t have to be a parent to apply, and we are looking for skilled volunteers from all backgrounds. If you would like more information on the role please contact the Chair of Governors at chair@churchfields.wilts.sch.uk and if you would like to apply please fill in the application form below and send it to admin@churchfields.wilts.sch.uk
